Peachy picnic dress (outfit #16)

This is my 1950s, L'aiglon brand, novelty fruit print dress.  It has a peach, grape, and pear motif that is just too sweet for words.  This came from Huckleberry Vintage, an etsy store that no longer exists.  My 1940s beaded handbag came from ebay.

Kissy face

Recently while searching the interwebs, I came across one of the original ads for the Revlon lipstick color, "Cherries in the snow."  I had mentioned this lipstick in an earlier post, while talking about true vintage colors that were still on the market today.  This got me searching for other brands that still carried original color lines from the 30s-60s.  While I couldn't find another list anywhere, I learned that brands like Elizabeth Arden, Max Factor, Maybellline, Revlon, and Cover Girl (in the 60s) had entered the cosmetics markets.  It's really interesting to see the progression of makeup styles, including lip shape and popular colors.  Here is a brief rundown...

Going to the chapel (outfit #15)

This is my 1960s, empire waist dress with puff bell sleeves.  I inherited this dress from a dear friend.  My clip-on coral earrings, beaded handbag, and white gloves came from thrift and estate sales.

Scallops and lace

This is Elowyn's 1950s frosting pink dress.  It has a scalloped bodice with buttons, ruffled sleeves, and lace collar.  This dress was new, never worn, with the tags still attached!  It was made by Young Life and was purchased on ebay.

Little Betty Buttons (outfit #14)

I'm a little late on my Sunday outfit post this week.  I promise I was doing something really important, instead of fulfilling my blogging duties.  This is my late 50s Nan Dorsey swimsuit with aqua button details.  The sunglasses are 1960s Optique brand and they still had the original sticker on them...$1.25 baby!  Both purchases are from ebay.  My vintage parasol belongs to my stepfather and I believe it is from the early 1900s?
